Whether you are a shopoholic or like to spot a bargain here is our guide to Riga shopping:

- To purchase your souvenirs, OutThere suggests you some addresses.

- Or choose one of our offered Shopping Packages.

If it is brands that you are after, then focus your Riga shopping experience on one of the many top class department stores in Riga. The best places to start your Riga shopping experience are at Stockmann, Origo and Galerija Centrs, which all provide top brand shopping in the middle of Riga.

All three of these department stores rate highly if you are shopping in Riga for clothes, shoes and cosmetics. Everybody knows that the average Latvian woman likes to look her best, seven days per week, and as well as being blessed by naturally good looks, what nature hasn’t provided for she finds on her regular Riga shopping trips. Shopping in Riga’s department stores you will find top international brands (many currently at heavily discounted rates) and some excellent local brands, which will make shopping in Riga rather more enjoyable than walking around your normal department stores back at home.

There are also a number of Riga shopping centres a little out of the centre such as Alfa, but, as you will probably only be in town for a few days, we suggest you keep your Riga shopping trip to the places listed above.

If you are not a brand person and, instead, you are more interested in picking up something unique or to remember Latvia by then head for the smaller stores dotted around the city, the street stalls in the Old Town, and make your first port of call on your alternative Riga shopping experience Riga Central Market.  Riga Central Market is one of the largest markets in all of Europe and should be included in every Riga itinerary whether shopping in Riga is planned or not.

Amber – Latvia is one of the world’s leading places for buying amber. Pick some up on your next Riga shopping trip!

Handicrafts – Wood, glass, linen, ceramics…you name it, Latvians produce a fantastic array of hand made goods, which you will find in some of the smaller Riga shops.

Jewellery – From traditional Liv designs to contemporary bracelets and necklaces, Latvia is proud of its jewellery exports. Spend an hour or two exploring the jewellery shops of Old Riga during your Riga shopping trip.

Alcohol – Latvians are amongst the world’s biggest consumers of alcohol per capita. It is no surprise then to discover that they are also responsible for some quality export brand beverages. These include the famous Riga Black Balsams, Riga Champagne, and several brands of beer including Uzavas, Bauskas and Tervetas. This Riga shopping tip is for everyone…but we feel the male of the species will be especially grateful for this Riga shopping advice. Remember to check your duty free allowance before you decide what to buy!

Chocolate – Latvia’s famous chocolate producing company Laima is popular in many countries particularly in the country’s neighbours Lithuania and Estonia. As well as taking some Laima chocolate home from your Riga shopping expedition, contact us if you are interested in a tour of Laima’s Riga chocolate factory!

Bread – Latvian black rye bread is in great demand abroad and is rated amongst the best in the whole region. Don’t return home from your Riga shopping trip without some!

Honey – Latvian honey is highly regarded abroad thanks to strong beekeeping traditions, a pollution-free environment and the country’s northern latitude, which helps improve the quality of the honey. One of the best places to buy honey during your Riga shopping experience is from the fascinating Central Market.

Sport – Pick up a Latvian football or ice hockey shirt during your shopping trip to Riga. Or, at the very least, buy a claret and white Latvian scarf to show off to your friends as a memento of your stay in Riga and your successful shopping trip in the Latvian capital!

Art – pick up a brilliant piece of local artwork from one of Riga’s many galleries

Whatever it is that you want to buy during your Riga shopping trip we are sure you can find it! Just follow our tips above and get the best out of your shopping in Riga experience!
